Dirk has been essential and incredible in the extremely challenging process of trying to find (and ultimately purchase) a strata condo in Victoria, while living far away in New York City. It’s difficult to summarize just how important he’s been in every step of the process. From the very beginning, he listened carefully to our needs, and helped us refine them. He never tried to “sell” us on anything; he simply pointed out the potential benefits and/or disadvantages of any area or place we looked at.

Dirk was ALWAYS available to answer our many questions; he even did a virtual showing with his cell phone when we were unable to see a condo in person. As you can imagine, it took multiple trips to Victoria and many viewings to finally settle on a place; and when we did, Dirk’s guidance was indispensable, since the steps in purchasing a home in Canada was an unfamiliar process for us coming from the US.

Because we were unable to move right away, we were very concerned about ensuring that our new real estate investment was safe and secure. Without our asking, Dirk volunteered to keep an eye on our place for us, stopping by to check on it every few weeks and pick up any mail we had received. He did this for several months, and kept in touch with us to let us know if anything was urgent. He even scanned important mail we received and emailed it to us so we wouldn’t miss it.

In addition to all this, over the years Dirk has developed a network of professional contractors and other service providers whom he personally recommends. We used several of his contacts, each doing an excellent job in their respective areas of expertise.

The level of service Dirk provides to his clients goes so far above anything we’ve ever experienced, we don’t even have a source of comparison. It’s fair to say that if one makes the very wise choice of selecting Dirk VanderWal as their real estate agent, they’re getting someone who’s in a class by himself: both as an agent, and as a person. Working with Dirk is like having the advice of a trusted friend!
