Megan and I were selling our condos that we owned separately and purchasing our first home together. Before we found Ian, we worked with other realtors and the experiences were less than pleasant. It was obvious they were telling us what we wanted to hear to get our business. Basically, they felt slimy. Not only was Ian a genuine friend throughout the process, but in just three weeks he sold two properties over list and got us into our beautiful new home when we weren’t even the highest offer. It probably should have been a more stressful experience but Ian made it feel easy. We’ve already recommended Ian to a friend and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. We’re so happy with how everything worked it. It almost makes us want to do it again….Almost.
The words SERVICE and INTEGRITY immediately spring to my mind when describing my experience with Ian. If you, like me, are an average local home buyer, you have probably experienced severe vertigo at the thought of entering the Vancouver market. Ian was a pillar of professionalism, competence, and sound judgment in this stressful time. From the initial search, to refinement, showings, negotiations, and closing, Ian earned and maintained my trust throughout all stages of the process.
Let me tell you a story that speaks volumes to Ian’s character and commitment to service and integrity:
My wife and I had finally found the perfect home, but had reached an impasse. The seller was emotionally invested in his home, and had conducted negotiations in an erratic and illogical manner. We loved the home and wanted it badly, but were constrained by a financial upper limit. After several rounds of negotiations, the seller dug in at a price that just exceeded our last offer and financial ceiling. We could have stretched and met this price. Had we done so, however, we would have been paying over market value and spreading ourselves very thinly. This was the tipping point in the deal. At this point, a lesser agent – an agent more concerned with closing the deal and securing his commission – could easily have convinced us to accept the seller’s final offer. Ian is not that agent. He told us that his only goals were our happiness, and securing an outcome that we were totally comfortable with. He advised us not to accept the seller’s final offer, reasoning that we would always be troubled by that decision, and that this regret would indelibly taint the experience. We took Ian’s advice and rejected the seller’s offer. Ten minutes later, the seller’s agent called us back and offered to meet our last offer! We accepted, closed the deal, and love our new home.
Ian has made a lifelong client out of me, and I would recommend him to anyone.
Ian gave us great advice on the sale of our first apartment when we were looking to move to a larger place. He made recommendations for getting it ready for listing and helped us set a price based on his strong experience and knowledge of the market. Our home sold in record time, minimizing our stress levels and letting us focus on finding our next home. A great experience from start to finish!
Ian was very patient and took the time to understand us as people, which worked to our advantage at the time of offer presentation. He is very responsive and looked out for my best interest. I highly recommend him!
