Alex Chiu takes advantages of first-time homebuyers. After purchasing/renting three other properties and working with 2 other realtors, I realized the service provided by Alex Chiu was a scam for the following issues:
1. Pressure to overpay: Alex Chiu unreasonably pressured me to overpay for the property by not conducting proper research on the building. Despite my reservations, I trusted his expertise, only to find out later that I was the only person who overpaid. This negligence on his part is unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of professionalism and ethical conduct.
2. Conflict of interest: I discovered that Alex Chiu was taking a cut from contractors he recommended. This raises serious concerns about his integrity and whether he prioritizes his own financial gain over the best interests of his clients. Specifically, he quoted me a higher price for painting and pocketed the extra money.
3. Misinformation regarding deposit release: Alex Chiu insisted that I was not allowed to withhold the deposit until I had thoroughly inspected the property. After consulting with my lawyer, I discovered that there was no such restriction. This misinformation created unnecessary stress and confusion.
4. Lack of professionalism: Alex Chiu refused to show me a property I found because he wrongly assumed that I was just browsing. However, I ended up purchasing that exact property. His passive-aggressive behaviour during the showing was highly unprofessional and unacceptable.
5. Poor quality “gift”: As part of the transaction, Alex Chiu provided me with a supposedly “gifted” $50 faucet, which broke within two weeks of use. When I raised the issue and inquired about the 1% cash rebate, he conveniently shifted the conversation towards the cheapest faucet he had given me, which clearly demonstrated a lack of concern for my satisfaction as a client.
6. Age discrimination: I experienced a noticeable change in Alex Chiu’s attitude when I brought an older family friend to our discussion. Suddenly, he became more attentive and responsive to my concerns. This differential treatment based on age is highly disrespectful and unprofessional.
I had hoped that my opinion would change over time, but after waiting for three years, I am still deeply troubled by the service I received from Alex Chiu. As a first-time homebuyer, I believe it is important to highlight these issues to prevent others from being taken advantage of.
the owner is only there to generate business for himself by using the agents. he doesn’t ate you can make it as agent or not. he has his own family as a team and uses various hidden ways to get deals for himself and his family. as new or experience agent you should go to a company that focuses on helping you build a business. just because he offers to pay for your monthly fees to remax doesn’t mean you are becoming successful in your business doings. be very careful in working in this brokerage. the owner is not as stright as he pretends to be.
