Surprised to read the reviews on file to date. I have had an excellent experience with Elena Morris from Chilliwack’s Select Real Estate. Elena was easily accessible, by cell or email, with quick and very professional responses. We discussed the services they offer in detail. Elena ensured that my unit was well-advertised on multiple social media sites. In no time at all my unit was tenanted, with Select overseeing the application process.
I feel confident investing in their real estate services.
I have been a landlord on and off for roughly 15yrs, self-managing the rental process with tenants. Select does it all for you from the tenant application process, to showings, to regular inspections. I appreciate their flexibility, allowing me to choose how “hands on” I want to be as a landlord. It felt very “customized” to meet my specific needs and my financial goals.

The absolute worst rental agency ever. If you want landlords constantly disrupting your privacy, rent from Select! Happy to invalidate any claims from them, with relevant info. They have let their tenants live with BLACK MOLD in their units on Lewis Avenue for years. They never put in ventilation for the upstairs bathroom. It was a week in remediation for me, along with repeated notices to enter my property over a two week period with zero timeline. The workers and the property management company had obviously not communicated. Black mold grows at an exponential rate. They tried to hide their misstep on not doing proper ventilation to ANY unit. I had to ask a worker when I heard scraping during their hours.. for FOUR HOURS.

The ventilating still isn’t fixed. This company will try to evict you for a piece of dirt on the ground; but they’ll never accommodate any issues you have in the house.

PM for proof. I have 3 years of it.

Called to confirm a viewing 3 times and told everything was set up. The day of the viewing we took time off work to go and then I get a call that the house is not ready for viewings and needs to be cleaned. Very unprofessional staff does not know how to communicate.

Select Real Estate replied with “After reviewing this concern it became apparent this was user error on the tenants behalf. We would be happy to help troubleshoot any future concerns.”

There was no “user error on the tenants behalf”. I’m not a tenant, I was a potential tenant. On the scheduled day I arrived 1 hour early (I drove from Vancouver to Hope and allowed for traffic delays). I waited at the building until 30 minutes after the scheduled time. As I stated below – no one from Select Real Estate showed up. There was no reply to the 3 messages I left on their voice mail on that day or any other day. While waiting I had the opportunity to chat with some of the current tenants; they were not complimentary in what they had to say about Select Real Estate.

Select Real Estate falls down badly with communications. They want you to do everything via email or by leaving telephone messages. I have been unable to get anyone there to answer the telephone. It is all setup for their convenience.

I made appointments to view two rental units in Hope. At the first unit the representative showed up on time, but could not or would not answer any questions. I was told I had to fill in an application to get my questions answered. For the second appointment no one showed up. They did not call to cancel or to say they would be late. I left three voice mails (as they won’t answer the telephone). They never called back.

A note about the application process. They ask for information well beyond what is needed to make a decision – including asking for your social insurance number, which is highly inappropriate. They also ask for a photo of the applicant. Given how much information they want in the application it strikes me that they have a side business selling applicant’s information to data brokers. Probably not illegal, but not ethical either.

If you use them as rental property managers please note that based on what I have observed properties that could be rented in a week or so remain vacant for weeks for they can collect more applications to sell.
