The team at Unique is the best. Professional, efficient and friendly they have found me excellent tenants. I will not hesitate to use them again. If you want your property rental done right they are your best bet.

Matthew was fantastic with our contract, and Tania went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly and according to plan. There was minor work that needed to be done, and their handyman Paul (excellent as well), came right out and fixed the issue.

Do not rent from these property managers. For one, it is my opinion that their prices are inflated beyond the already inflated Vancouver rental rates. They are so disorganized – our initial move in was delayed, forcing my husband to move late and during a severe winter storm. Our heat didn’t work when we moved in (during a severe winter storm); for four days I stressed the importance of fixing the heat because I was in the unit with a young child. No rush to fix it while my son complained he was freezing. The unit turned out to be terribly noisy on weekends, especially late at night. I made numerous inquiries to break the lease early because my son couldn’t sleep through the noise and had developed severe anxiety. When I inquired about moving, I told Unique about my son’s anxiety and still Unique wanted $2000 to break the lease early even though they rented it merely days after I put my full month’s notice in. I threatened to dispute the $2000 charge with the tenants board and eventually they agreed to settle on $500 (we believe this amount is also too much and highly inappropriate to charge given they probably rented the unit for even more than my rent and within days of my notice). Then, I was told I wouldn’t need to book professional cleaners because the unit was quite clean already. I booked professional cleaners anyways as a courtesy to the new tenant. The walk through was conducted, everything was clean and as it was when I rented the unit so the property manager, Elvin, signed off and said my deposit would be returned. A few days later, Elvin contacted my husband and I to say the new tenant didn’t think the unit was clean enough and suggested we book Unique’s cleaner and have the cost deducted from our damage deposit. We were offended by this inappropriate request and complained to the managing partners and, once again, threatened to engage the tenants board. It is the opinion of my husband and I that this business looks for ways to take advantage of their tenants and to charge fees inappropriately. I know renting in Vancouver is competitive and expensive but this was way over the top. It is not worth the stress and layers of confusion to rent from Unique Accommodations, if you can rent from anyone else, do it and don’t rent from these guys.
********added after Unique replied********. It has not gone unnoticed that the reply is a cherry picked version of what really happened, and undoubtedly curated to suit the narrative of the business. It is frustrating, as it was during my tenancy, that Unique Accommodations is utterly incapable of recognizing their shortcomings and failures as a business, and it is insulting that they prefer to argue with their customers when they could apologize instead. I suspect this is precisely the reason they have so many 1 star reviews. Renters beware. This is how you will be treated if you rent from Unique Accommodations.
